After teaching in Birmingham in the late '70's Chris spent formative years bringing up a young family in Africa during the 80's. Returning to Britain and her teaching career in 1990, Chris then made a career change into adult social care in 1998 and has worked with people with learning disabilities since then. Chris is also a founder member of Two Left Feet (dance for all) which she claims keeps her 'healthy and whole'.
Chris is fascinated by people and their personal journeys and passionate about people's rights to be in control of their lives. She started attending the Great Missenden Life Club in May '09 feeling very stuck, negative and confused about her current job.
I felt immediately completely 'at home' with the the approach and structure of the session. I loved the opening 'best thing about today' activity which catapulted me into looking for the special moments which happen all the time to me but I'd forgotten to notice. I remember my first workshop was called 'From the Outside In' and was on self esteem (which had taken a hard knock in recent months).
The workshop got me thinking really positively about myself and reminding me of all the things I 'love' about me! I set some fun, simple and achievable goals for the week – and the rest (as they say) is history.
When our current Host said he had to stop I knew my next goal was to be a Life Club Host and here I am!
